Greetings and welcome to another journal post and it’s been three weeks since my last post as I have been super busy doing all sorts of things which we’ll get into later in this post so let’s get right to it. Starting with Friday 17th June I was making my YouTube series for the euro championships which came to an abrupt end after the Belgium v Republic of Ireland game for two reasons the first was that making a video every day was too much for me and overwhelmed me, a valuable lesson learnt about what my capacity is and how much I can get done in any given period. Second was that I got an internship with Socialyse the social media agency of the Havas Media Group which as you can imagine took a lot of the time away for making and editing videos. Which brings me nicely on to the next big thing that happened which was my getting an internship with Socialyse, for those that are regular readers you will know that I spent a day with the guys and gals from Socialyse while on a week long course in May you can read my review of the course in the events section of posts.
The internship lasted two weeks shadowing the Social media analyst and learning how to use some of the tools for social listening like Sysomos MAP, Sprinklr and Pulsar as well as seeing what kind of work is involved and how the data is presented to clients. I had an excellent time and learnt lots about working in social media agency and what tools it would be good for me to learn and become competent with. The experience gave me lot’s to think about and even let me get an idea of what my own social media presence is doing and what areas I could do with improving in social media, it also let me find out some interesting things about YouTube and media in general. There was a talk from YouTube about how the platform was being used and what developments are in the pipeline, I can’t thank the guys and gals at Socialyse enough for their time and support. During the weekend 3rd July, I had a bit of a mishap and fell off my office chair! and ended up breaking my foot and pulling a ligament which has me having to wear some plastic boot thing on my foot and using a crutch to walk around, which is really uncomfortable and inconvenient, I still managed to attend the last week of my internship which speaks to my dedication and ability to control the pain using only the power of my mind( I haven’t taken any painkillers) This week 11th July – 17th July I am using all the things I have learnt and applying them to my own projects and social media profiles. That pretty much brings us up to date so until next time.
